The rapid growth in support for a National Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform is extremely encouraging.
First, Mike Morrice’s private member's motion for a National Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform reached the maximum number of joint seconders allowed: 20 MPs have seconded the motion! Unfortunately, this motion would not have come to a vote in Parliament (it was too far down in the order of precedence).
Then on May 6, Liberal Party members voted overwhelmingly to back a resolution calling for the government to convene a National Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform.

Now a new motion for a National Citizens' Assembly on Electoral Reform - Motion M-86 put forward by Nanaimo-Ladysmith MP Lisa Marie Barron - will be coming to a vote in Parliament in late 2023 or early 2024. It has reached the maximum of 20 joint seconders, including MPs from four parties!
Your persistent, determined efforts are paying off, but we must keep building support across party lines!
